Press Release Author = Paul Rumsey
Industry = Internet & Online
Press Release Summary = Hobbieslist.com - The brainchild of a US & UK IT partnership (2 guys holding fulltime IT careers, funding and running this part time). Hobbieslist is very much the little search engine that can! Hobbieslist is a listing of hobbies, information populated by the user. Hobbieslist.com allows the user to communicate with enthusiasts with similar interests in participating countries. The user can buy, sell or just publicize their hobby interest for free.
Holding it\'s own against global power engines like Google. Hobbieslist.com is unique as it is just dedicated to hobbies.
Press Release Body = Hobbieslist.com - Started in April 2006 and is fast becoming the hobby search engine of choice for all hobby enthusiasts. Catering to primarily English speaking countries it allows the user to find hobby enthusiasts with the same hobby, research hobbies they might be interested in and list, buy and sell hobby related items for free. Currently even commercial sites can advertise for free, although there are plans for charges in the future for commercial listings. However there is no current plan to charge non commercial users which means that unlike ebay, who take a cut of every sale, the user keeps the revenue from the sale. However, the user is on their own and should investigate the legitimacy of any transaction before committing to a sale. As selling of hobby related items between users is only one facet of the functionality of Hobbieslist.com, the site does not offer the protection which, for example, ebay might offer. This is more in line with the way Craigslist users buy and sell.
Hobbieslist.com does not search or crawl the web for content like traditional search engines. Content is supplied and added by the user. To add content to the Hobbieslist.com website the user creates a free account (personal information is kept private and not sold on to third parties) and then is free to list operating within the guidelines listed on the site. Any offensive, illegal or objectionable material will be deleted and the user may be banned from using Hobbieslist.
